Minutes of Eco Meeting 25/11/11

We spoke about who was in each group and what was happening in each group (Energy, Litter and Bio-diversity)
Energy
Announcement for turning of lights competition was going to be made at assembly. Competition judges would be Morven, Bruce, Alison and Hazel. Meter readings to be taken every Tuesday as sometimes this is not happening on the same day each week. Mr Black to get old meter readings so we can compare.
Litter
Litter team to make up some litter rules for the school, Mr Black would like to see these rules before they are shared with the whole school. Courteney and Hazel are trying to make a recycled paper chain to decorate the school hall at Christmas. Mr Black will inform the teachers and there will be a box outside the P4/5 classroom for recycled paper that can be used for making the chains.
Bio-diversity
Three out of four of the actions on the bio-diversity plan are already being covered by the John Muir project, the only one left is to create a poster about encouraging wildlife.
Jane Marriot is to provide information about the Green Schools Revolution week that is being run by the Co-Operative.
Minutes of Eco Meeting 8/2/12
Redo energy Rota, readings need done every Tuesday . Hazel and Kirsty are going to redo rota with young pupils doing readings with older pupils.
Door Holding
Morvens idea for holding doors is working. Mr Black will think about it further .
Litter
Litter rules have been started but not finished we will do this on Tuesday21st February 2012.
No packaging lunch day went well. The weight of today’s litter was 2kg 240g. Dylan, Bruce and Catherine will prepare a power point of pictures.
The house points collected are;
Green 15, Red 25, Blue 27
In future have a no packaging lunch day that focuses on yoghurt and crisps. Notices to be sent out to parents earlier next time.
Biodiversity
3 out of 4 actions have been covered because of John Muir topic. We will change/go over the poster on the door when you enter hall Hope and Heather will change it.
John Muir Certificate, we got it and it will be given out at assembly.
Have asked Mr Black for permission to have recycled tyres in vegetable garden for growing vegetables in. Will bring to a future Eco meeting.
Paper chain
We are unable to find it so we can’t measure it.
Green school revolution week - Await info
Energy
Poster computation went well and will another one.
We will also do a switch off week on the week commencing 4th of June. We will have a meeting after Easter holidays to organise it, need to ask Janette to this meeting.
Everyone remember to switch off hall lights on bright days.
