Class P4/5 outing. (Smith Art Gallery)

On Thursday 25th September 2008 P4/5 went on a class outing to the Smith Art Gallery and Museum in Stirling.  We went there because there was an exhibition about Leonardo Da Vinci.

We arrived there at 10:30am and the gallery was just opening.  We went inside and followed a lady called Kathy into a room that had lots of seats in it.  She split us into two groups and one group stayed in the room and the other group went to have a look at the paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci.  The group that was staying did some sketches of different things like flowers and animals.  The other group were looking at lots of different paintings.

There were lots of paintings of plants and there were pictures of men pushing war machines along.  We weren’t allowed to touch the paintings because they were the real pictures.  My favourite picture was a design with a horse on it because I adore horses and I think that it was a wonderful way of drawing.  We swapped over so that both groups got a shot of both things.

Once we had finished we went to have a look at the garden and Mrs Smith took some photos of us in the garden.  We travelled back to school in the parent’s cars we came in.  All the way home I was thinking of what a wonderful time I had!

P6/7 trip to Stirling Ice Rink

On 24th October 2008 P6/7 went on a trip to Stirling Ice rink courtesy of Active Stirling.  We had great fun on the bus to the ice rink, singing songs and chatting but we had even more fun at the Ice rink!

When we came in it was even colder inside than outside!  The ice-rink is quite strange to look at because in the sunlight it sparkles and glitters like diamonds.

We all trudged into the café by the side of the ice and sat down in groups at the tables, the sticky tablecloths sticking to our sleeves.  “Right” says Logan (in a rather loud voice) “Has anyone been here before?”

“Yes” chanted back the class (as this is our second trip to the ice-rink).  There were a few scattered “Nos” as people may have been off.  Slowly everyone tumbled onto the ice trying to get to grips with the slippy surface.

Now if you don’t know what curling is it is basically a game on ice where you throw stones. Well slide a stone up and down a sheet of ice to get as close as you can to a ring of four circles with a red circle in the middle.

The ice rink had a funny feeling about it (apart from the cold) because if you spoke loudly enough it echoed.

We had a great time at the ice-rink and we didn’t just throw stones we played lots of games as well!

On the bus ride home we were all very tired but full of fun. We all really enjoyed our trip to Stirling Ice Rink and we hope we have many more.

Class Assembly P6/7

Our class Assembly was based on one of our school values: Respect.

The first thing on our programme was to tell everyone what respect meant.  Lots of people said that it is being kind.  Then we sang a song called R. E. S. P. E. C. T.

After the song we performed respect raps that we had made ourselves and they were really awesome.

Then we danced a really cool dance that a sixth year pupil Eilidh from Balfron High had taught us.  After that we performed drama scenes that were about being respectful and disrespectful.  Finally we sang a song called ‘We can do good’.

We think the assembly went brilliantly.  One thing that was really funny was when the CD player swallowed the CD and we had to wait for a while until the teachers got it out. We all had loads of fun doing this and all hope that we will have another opportunity to do something like this again.

 P6 Visit to Flanders Moss

On the 3rd November 2009, P6 went to Flanders Moss to visit the new oak, birds eye veiw tower. We had a tour guide called Nick that took us around the moss and at the very end we went up the tower. Nick told us the different types of moss we saw as we walked on the plastic path. In the car park there was a long wooden pole with '7000 years' all the way up to 'today' in thousands.
I have hever been to Flanders Moss before. It was an enjoyable visit and I would like to go there again.
